Game High Concept

High School Ditch Day is a sidescroller game about a student who is trying to sneak out of class and out of school.  This game is made for people between the ages of 15 and 22. This game targets high school and college students.  This is the sort of game that most high school and college students can relate to.  Many students have at one time or another had the urge to sneak out of a class and play hookie. Many high school and college students can relate to this sort of game and would immediately be sucked into the comedic nature of the premise.  Finally, students can play out their fantasies of ditching class without actually having to get into trouble for doing it.  This game comes across as being simplistic conceptually yet has depth to it and is multifaceted.

The game should be created because there are few games out there that are about someone who tries to ditch class.  This game will not have to face any competition because it
offers a unique gaming experience.  The only game out there that comes close to “High School Ditch Day” is “Bully”.  This will be the sort of game that people eagerly await for release.  There may be some other people who have recently graduated college in their mid to late 20s who find interest in this game.

Backstory and Concept

The main characters are Jake Ellis (Student), Mark Overton (Teacher), and Pedro Munoz(Security Guard).  Jake is a mischievous, overworked student who is fed up with his class load.  He grew up in suburban Los Angeles and is now attending the Art Institute of North Hollywood.  Jake has a basketball game that starts 15 mins after class begins so he has to do his best to get out of class as soon as possible.  He must get past the teacher in the class and the security guard who is either at the front desk or roaming the hallways if he is to ditch class and watch his game.

Levels and Objectives
This game will consist of three levels.  The first level takes place at the 3rd floor at Hoover High School inside Science class at 11:00 am on June 21, 2012.  For this level Jake starts off sitting in his seat towards the back of the classroom.  He must do his best to sneak out of class through either the front or back doorway.

The 2nd level takes place in the hallways of the 3rd floor.  He must maneuver his way through the hallways without getting caught by the security guard.  He must find his way to the elevator so that he can get to the bottom floor.

The 3rd level begins as Jake gets off of the elevator at the bottom floor.  From here he must sneak out to the front doorway which is being closely guarded by the guard who is seated at the front desk.  If he can get out of the building in 10 mins he will have enough time to run to his house and watch the game.

The objective is for Jake to get past the teacher and the security guard in enough time to watch the game.  The teacher has a pointer stick which he can use to whack Jake.  He can also pick up the phone to call the security guard.  The Security Guard has a tazer which he can use to attack Jake with.

Jake can take a combined 3 hits until he must start over.  Jake can pick up boosts to increase his abilities or items that may decrease his abilities in different areas.  The worm will slow Jake down.

The apple will give Jake more health.

The clock will give Jake an additional minute if he finds one.

Jake can use a slingshot to hit the teacher or security guard with.

The obstacles of this game are the worm, the teacher, and the security guard.  In each level you have to avoid being seen by the teacher or the security guard as you try to evade them.  A suspicion meter will increase as Jake gets close to leaving a level by either exiting a door or entering an elevator.  To pass level 1 Jake must get out of the classroom.  To pass level 2 Jake must move past the hallway on the 3rd floor and onto the elevator.  To pass the 3rd level and win the game Jake must maneuver his way past the lobby hallway, past the security front desk, and out the front door.

Game High Concept

My game is a fighting game between two people who are fighting for their own respective villages.  This is a simple iphone app that someone can pick up and play for a few minutes when they are bored.  Unlike most other fighting games it does not have the same level of depth and multiple characters that other games do but is only intended to kill some time.
The game should be created because there are few games out there that are as simple to play as Freedom Fighters.  This game is one of a limited selection of games that has no violence.  Most game out there include blood and gore.  This game will be a fun, action packed fighting game similar to Street Fighter 2.  The intended audience will be mostly children between the ages of 7 and 12.  However teenagers might also find interest in this game.  The graphics are very cartoon like and has the potential to become a cult classic.

Backstory and Concept

The main characters are Donald Bloomsworth, Katherine Helton, and James Shuttlesworth.  Donald is a very aggressive person and has always been known for his cutthroat approach to business.  Donald also is a big spender and is well known for his endless array of women that escort him to events.  Katherine is a shy and naïve type of person.  She works hard but her downfall is that she trusts the wrong people.  James is a very likeable person.  He gets along well with the people in his village. Donald is fighting for the freedom of Bloomsworth Village while Katherine is fighting for the freedom of Helton Village.  James is fighting for the freedom of Shuttlesworth Village.  All three of these villages are located in London, England.  They each are fighting for the freedom of their respect villages.  Years ago Donald, Katherine, and James were business partners and owned their own village.  Unfortunately they got into a squabble over a deal gone bad.  Donald, Katherine, and James left their business and decided to go their separate ways.  Each person decided to start running their own village.  While Donald/James was visiting Katherine’s village he was caught trying to swindle some of the residents of her village.  Angered, Katherine retaliated and so the game begins as the three duel for the freedom of their respective villages. There will be a best of 3 battles.  The first person to win 2 battles is the winner and has successfully protected their village.  The next best of 3 battles will take place in the loser’s village.  If the person defending their village loses they also loose freedom of their village.
Levels and Objectives
The first level and fight takes place at Helton Village in London, England at 1754.  The 2nd level takes place at either Bloomsworth Village or Shuttlesworth Village.  A 3rd level will take place in a neutral location if both character’s win one fight each.  The objective is for each character to defeat the other in a fight and protect their own village from being conquered.  Three players can be chosen from to fight.  The 2nd objective is to take over the opponents village.  Each character has specific powers.  If someone beats Katherine he will get a defense boost.  If someone beats Donald he/she will get a power boost.  James has a speed boost.  Boosts can be used in round 2 and 3.  This game has no obstacles.  In each level you get to fight.  Each person has weapons that they can use.  Donald uses a spear, Katherine uses a sword, and James uses an axe.  Donald can attack with his spear 2 different ways.  His jab move is a quick attack which is meant to temporarily stun his opponent.  His charge move is a powerful attack in which he reaches back for 2 seconds and pushes forth with all his might.  Katherine also has two ways in which she can attack using her sword.  She has a spinning attack which confuses the opponent yet is quick and very effective.  Her charging sword stab is her power move which she applies by running at her opponent and driving the sword through their body.  James has two separate axe attacks.  His max axe attack is a power move.  He jumps in midair and comes down driving the axe down onto his opponent.  The axe slice is a spin move which attacks opponents at different angles confusing them.  This is a quick attack and draws contact frequently.
